The Amalfi coast is the most picturesque stretch of coastline in Southern Italy. The area is an amazing combination of sea, beautiful and unique coastal towns and breathtaking mountains. The Coast is a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997. The Island of Capri is at a distance of around 16kms from Amalfi. The Island has been a summer resort from the time of the Roman Republic.
Amalfi Coast and Mountains:
The Amalfi Coast is without doubt one of Europe’s most scenic coastline. Picturesque villages and towns dangerously perched on the winding hillside combined with an amazing diversity of landscape are a heaven for adventure seeking tourists. Hundreds of years old walking paths zigzag through fragrant lemon groves and scenic terraced vineyards, providing you with breathtaking views at every turn.

There’s tons of stuff to do in Amalfi for visitors, you can take a walk on Amalfi’s famous path, The footpath of Gods, a visit to the Villa Cimbrone Gardens is also a must, the Sul Sentiero degli Dei trail is full of ancient sites, an audience at the Amalfi Musical Opera is worth a try too. Other attractions include the ancient Duomo di Sant’Andrea Apostolo Cathedral, the Villa Rufolo castle, Duomo di Salerno and Museo della Carta museum among others. And last but not least enjoying the delicious local cuisine and wines is a must. Faraglioni rock formations, Anacapri town, Villa San Michele, the 14th century of San Giacomo monastery and The Phoenician Steps are some of attractions on the Island itself.

Getting to Amalfi:
Getting to the Amalfi coast is pretty easy, it can be reached via car, or train, the nearest train station is at Salerno which is well connected and lies at a distance of 24 odd km from the coast. The nearest airport ‘Capodichino’ is in Naples, 36kms from Amalfi.

You can stay at the Albergo Lido Mare Hotel which is housed in a 700 years old building, the hotel is just a short walk from the beach. Hotel La Perla, Hotel Risorgimento and Santa Caterina Hotel are also popular among the tourists.
The Capri Island:

Capri is an becharming and picturesque island made of limestone rock. The island’s top attraction are the famous Blue Grotto sea caves and Grotta Azzurra restaurant. Visitors arrive by boat at Marina Grande, which is the island’s main harbor. Beaches are scattered around the island. There are only two towns - Capri, just above Marina Grande, and Anacapri, the higher town. Lemon trees, flowers, vineyards and birds are abundant.
Getting to Capri:
The island can easily be reached by frequent ferries and hydrofoils from the city of Naples and from Sorrento on the Amalfi Coast.
