New Hampshire is a state in the New England region of the northeastern United States. It has many fun and exciting attractions, and picnic spots to offer the tourists. I’m going to describe about the top 10 most beautiful places in New Hampshire here.
10) Loon Mountain
Loon Mountain is a mountain located in Lincoln, New Hampshire, in Grafton County. It is a part of the White Mountain National Forest. For the extreme adventurers, Loon Mountain provides a kind of skiing facility for extreme adventure lovers. The authority has employed a number of professional and friendly instructors for beginner skiers. The advanced skiers will enjoy here snowboarding and skiing through some of the most thrilling terrains in the world which only Loon mountain can offer. The 3065 feet tall Mountain of Loon Mountain is named as Loon Mountain Ski Resort and it has been considered as an all-season recreation area. The Loon Mountain has two peaks which are the 934m high North Peak and the 856m high South Peak. There is also a pond between the two peaks named Loon Pond, which is about 737m high.
9) Santa’s Village
The Santa’s Village is an amusement park in Jefferson, New Hampshire. It is a Christmas-themed park having sixteen rides most of which are named according to Christmas or winter themes. The park has three theaters, including a 3D theatre and two live show theatres. The park has a duck pond which is considered as a nativity scene and also a wishing well. Children make a wish by tossing coins in the wishing well, which are later collected by the Santa’s Village Park Authority to buy Christmas gifts for the marginalized and deprived children. This is a great tourism area for children to have fun. The park provides an enormously decorated little village with a reindeer barn and a reindeer shoe shop. The children can even take pictures with Santa and have fun in whispering their Christmas wishes into his ear, here in Santa’s Village.
8) The Kancamagus Highway
The Kancamagus Highway is part of New Hampshire Route 112 (NH 112), which runs through the White Mountains of New Hampshire. The Highway is a double lane, 42.6 km long road which runs east to west through the White Mountains. It covers the whole of the eastern half of the New Hampshire Route 112. The Highway is renowned and famous for tourism generally in September and October for the views of the autumn foliage. The gathering of tourists in here for the autumn foliage is known as the leaf peeping tourism. United States Department of Transportation has designated the route as a National Scenic Byway. There are campgrounds alongside the route.
7) Polar Caves Park
Polar Caves Park is a popular tourist spot having gardens and a small zoo. The caves are exceptionally cool during the summer and the deepest of them is cold enough to linger snow long into the summer. The Caves of Polar Caves Park are glacially formed from granite boulders. The park offers educational mining games for children and a museum emphasizing on rare game birds and pheasants. The Polar Caves Park is located in the Rumney Town which is alongside the NH 25 (New Hampshire Route 25).
6) Mount Monadnock
Mound Monadnock is also known as the Grand Monadnock, which is the highest point of Cheshire County and located in the New England State within the towns of Jaffrey and Dublin. It is a heaven for the mountain climbers and designated as a most frequently climbed mountains in the world. The Mount Madnock is about 965m (3165 feet) tall and an isolated mountain. Monadnock is a great tourism area for hiking, picnicking and Snowshoeing, some of the lower trails of the mountain are also suitable for backcountry skiing. There’s a seasonal campground in the southeast side which is under the State of New Hampshire’s maintenance. Any Terrain Vehicles (ATVs) and camping outside the campground are strictly restricted in the mountain. There are a large number of well-maintained hiking trails which have crisscrossed the Mount Monadnock.
5) Lakes Region
The Lakes Region is a renowned tourist destination which is located in the mid-state region of New Hampshire. The Region covers a huge area, including the whole Belknap County and some portions of the Carroll County, the Grafton County, the Strafford County and the Merrimack County. The Lake Region consists of the Lake Winnipesaukee, Squam Lake, Newfound Lake and Winnisquam Lake. There is motor speedway in here, named Loudon’s New Hampshire Motor Speedway where the annual motorcycle week is held. There is a museum for children, a fun spot on the Weirs beach and much more for the tourists.
4) Hampton Beach
The Beach is in a village resort and is a beach of the Atlantic Ocean. It is located in the Rockingham County, which is 24 km away toward the south from the Portsmouth. The beach is maintained by an authority named Hampton Beach State Park Authority. The main street along the beach is Ocean Boulevard by name. The New Hampshire Marine Memorial, the Hampton Bridge, the Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom is situated in the Hampton Beach Park. The beach is famous for being the venue of the Hampton Beach Seafood Festival, Hampton Beach Sand Sculpture Competition and mostly seasonal fireworks.
3) Castle in the Clouds
Castle in the cloud is also known as Lucknow which is a mansion having sixteen rooms. It is located in a mountain top estate of Moultonborough covering an area of 5500 acres (2200 ha). The Castle is owned by the Lakes Region Conservation Trust and is under the maintenance of the Castle Preservation Society. A great view of the Lake Winnipesaukee and the Ossipee Mountains. There is a carriage house, a gift shop, an art gallery, a Café and a Patio in the Castle in the Clouds, which including the castle is open to the public from May to October.
2) Great North Woods Region
The Great North Woods Regions are a renowned tourist spot located in Coos County, which is at the northern tip of New Hampshire. This is a tourism area for those who love lakes, rivers and towering forests. Tourists visit this region for hunting, fishing, camping, boating, hiking, ATV riding, skiing, snowmobiling and moose watching. The towns of Cole brook, Columbia and Pittsburgh within the Great North Woods Region are famous for festivals and other activities.
1) Mount Washington Auto Road
The Mount Washington Auto Road is a 7.6 mile long toll road which starts from the New Hampshire Route 16 to the summit of Mount Washington. The highest point of the road is 6145 feet (1873 meter) high. It is known as the oldest man-made attraction in North America! It has been operational since 1861 and every summer about 250000 tourists go up the road. It is said that the Mount Washington Auto Road offers the most amazing drive one can ever experience. The tourists often keep a bumper sticker on their car saying, “This Car Climbed Mt. Washington”. It is about a 1.5 hour drive leading really close to the sky and blessed with breathtaking views alongside the road.
